Former Bachelorette contestant Luke McLeod agreed to do the reality show on the advice of a “guru”.
They Sydney meditation teacher who starred on Sophie Monk’s season and then Bachelor in Paradise, flew to Perth this week ahead of hosting his Soul Flow meditation workshop at Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club tomorrow.
He revealed he was approached twice to do the show and finally agreed after his own version of an “Eat Pray Love” trip to India.
“It was so foreign — not something I would ever do,” he said.
“I went to India for two months and did a lot of spiritual work... there was a guru there that said ‘Luke, you need to do something soon that’s really going to test you and put you out of your comfort zone’. I don’t really know what he meant by that but you take it on board.
“A week after I got a call from a casting director of Warner Brothers. I thought ‘Maybe this is it, maybe this is the thing I’m meant to test myself and put myself out there’.
“One thing led to the next and there I was.”

During Bachelor in Paradise, McLeod started dating Lisa Hyde only to split months later, admitting dating hasn’t been on his mind lately, choosing to focus on his business.
“It’s almost been non-existent and I think I’ve done that on purpose,” he said.
“I gave that a go and it didn’t quite work out the way I wanted and that’s life, I’ve learnt from that is every story has a struggle and ups and downs and mine didn’t work out the way I wanted it to and as much as we tried to work it out.”
Saturday morning’s event will see McLeod take attendees through a guided meditation, the first time he has held this event in Perth, urging first-timers to give it a go.
“I think people are becoming more open to it,” he said. “It is a personal mission of mine is make it more mainstream and every day.”
