Axed radio host Lisa Fernandez insists she is “having a ball” despite being dropped from 96FM last week.
Ending her 10-week social media silence, Fernandez posted a photograph of herself on a hammock while on holiday in Vietnam and insisted she was in great spirits.
“To all my friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, listeners and viewers...please know that I’m absolutely ok,” she said.
“I’m feeling great. Actually I’m better than great. I’m fantastic. And I’ve not felt this relaxed in months.”
Fernandez and her co-host Paul Hogan were told on Wednesday they would not be re-signed for their breakfast slot.
But while their career with the station came to an abrupt ending, the pair are understood to have left with hefty payouts, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Fernandez told her 8,500 followers she had been “overwhelmed” with messages from friends and was lapping up a break with her family in the tourist city of Hoi An.
“It’s amazing. The temperature is about 36 degrees. So I’m in heaven,” she said.
“The kids and I are having a ball. In a few days my Dad Rog, his partner Karen, my brother Andy and his wife Jen are joining us for a proper Fernandez family holiday. Life really doesn’t get much better.
“Except, oh hang on, yes it does. Because all those promises I made to so many people over the past year that we should, “catch up for a red wine” can now become a reality.”
Fernandez and Hogan are departing with a 7.1 per cent share of the Perth radio audience, according to this month’s GFK survey.
