A group of intrepid Karratha locals will go on a journey of self-exploration later this year when they take to Nepal’s Himalayan peaks for a yoga and trekking retreat.

Rebekah Sherpa has teamed up with Cassandra Doyle, from The Space Karratha, to create the retreat for yogis of all levels, which aims to provide a space for participants to journey back to the source of who they are.

The group will trek to Rebekah’s husband’s village of Bupsa over two days, before settling in for a a five-day yoga and meditation program in the village.

Ms Sherpa said she spent a lot of time in Nepal and realised the power of the Himalayas in helping people to go deeper within themselves.

“We’ll be practising at the top of the village in an old monastery, which is the centre of village life,” she said. “It’s a really important part of their lives and culture, so we’ll be using that as the space for our practice.”

The two women opened the retreat up to others because yoga is all about community.

“Cass and I believe it is our purpose in life to work with people on their own healing journeys,” Ms Sherpa said.

There are still spots available on the retreat and more information can be found by emailing hello@sahasimahilatreks.com.
