Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi will today appear as a witness at a hearing that is set to determine whether she is suspended or disqualified from WA’s top council job.
Ms Scaffidi is due to give evidence at the State Administrative Tribunal hearing, which will decide on a penalty for her 19 breaches of the Local Government Act.
The breaches relate to a long-running travel and gifts scandal.
The hearing is necessary because Ms Scaffidi successfully appealed 26 of what were originally 45 breaches. As a result, an 18-month disqualification was thrown out and a new penalty for the 19 confirmed breaches had to be considered.
Ms Scaffidi spent four months stood aside from her mayoral duties before resuming her role last month.
